This week at LPHS, March 26-30

Good Morning,

Thank you all for a really awesome Spirit Week last week.  It was a lot of fun (minus the rapping) and good for the school overall.  Thanks to Ann, Leslie and the Student Council for organizing it and for everyone else that played a part throughout the week, from playing basketball, to giving up some instructional time, you all made a difference.

This is our last week before spring break and a mad rush to the end of the school year.  As I have asked before all of our breaks, please be aware of the student behavior and moods as they are away from us for, what can be for some, a long 10 days.  If there are any concerns that need to be addressed before we are out for break, please let the appropriate folks know.  We have a great team here at LPHS!

On to this week.  On Tuesday, we have an Early Release Day.  We are going to use the slot from 1:55-2:45 in the media center to complete the PSP that we skipped last week.  Please keep what we discussed at last week's meeting in mind as you complete these.  These are your opportunity to create your plan and share with us what your plan is.  Mr. Calvin recently completed the following diagram that further highlights the purpose of this process.

During the PSP, you are using the data to diagnose issues in your classroom and make instructional decisions based on who needs what in your classroom.  The end goal is to get as much of the class (at least 80%) the supports that they need during tier one instruction as possible.  Remembering that we are working towards increasing student voice and small group instruction, making decisions for who should be in what groups also comes from data.  Your PSP should reflect this thought process in the end.  Please make sure that your plan for direct instruction is immediate and reflects decisions to increase student understanding moving forward.

The staff meeting portion, from 2:45-3:45, will be cancelled.

On Tuesday night, our National Honor Society induction will take place in the LPHS Auditorium at 7:00 pm.

There is a PBIS Meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:10 in the Media Center.

Also on Wednesday, at 2:00, we will have a Lockdown Drill.  This will be a shelter in place drill where students should all be accounted for.  Please make sure that doors are locked, shades are drawn where applicable, and all students are in the classroom during this time.

We have a full day on Thursday, followed by no school on Friday to start our Spring Break.

Have a great week and please make the best of your time with your students!  What we have left with them this year is getting pretty limited!
