March Calendar of Events - Women's History Month and SEL Lessons

March Calendar Activities

  1. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Lessons for March

    1. March 3rd and 4th: The social studies department will be sharing the TRAILS: Intro to Emotions and Relaxation with their live instruction students. There is audio that will automatically play in present mode, all you have to do is click to the next slide.

    2. March 17th and 18th: The ELA department will be posting Emotions and Relaxation Part 2 as an independent work assignment. (This will be shared with you closer to the date).

  1. Women’s History Month - Our cultural inclusivity team has come up with a few activities that will honor March as Women’s History Month.

    1. Instead of doing a daily powerpoint that you play in your classes, we ask that at least once a week you recognize and quickly discuss a woman in your field of study with your students. Instead of assigning this to a certain hour, we ask that we share it with all of your students. You may do this how you wish (i.e., on an independent day, in a powerpoint, just a quick mention during the hour, etc.), but we ask that you explicitly acknowledge this with your classes.

    2. We will be putting up posters throughout the building to celebrate. Feel free to put something up if you would like.

    3. We are planning on doing a display similar to the “I Have A Dream” display upstairs, but asking students to recognize a woman in their life that they look up to and/or is influential in their life. By Friday, March 5th please acknowledge with your 1st and 4th hour that it is Women’s History Month and have them complete this google form to submit their recognition. We will then print and post publicly in the building. Please feel free to complete the form as well! (Link to post in your classroom: https://forms.gle/BxUwbzd75SF9e3AY8

      1. Here is the description in the google form that you can post with the form in your classroom:

“March is Women's History Month. To celebrate we are asking students and staff to share influential women in their life, then we will post all responses in a display in the building. Please complete this form and tell us a woman in your life or a woman you know of (i.e., a historic figure, a celebrity, etc.) that you look up to, admire, and/or is influential in your life. Please feel free to tell us why you chose them.”

As always, if you have any questions please contact Bridget Salogar or Kelly Seagram. Thank you all!
