This Week at LPHS, February 27 - March 3

Hello LPHS Staff, 

I hope that you all have made it through the last week as comfortable as possible.  I know it has been a difficult time for many due to the loss of power or property damage.  Hopefully that kind of weather and outcome are behind us and we get more sunshine like we had today!  

Please keep in mind that as we return to school, we haven't had our students in our care in over a week and just like any break, we are uncertain of what they may have been dealing with over the last week.  Thank you for using your expertise and training with these situations to put our students in the best possible place on Monday morning.

Monday:

Tuesday: 

* Early Release Staff Meeting, 1:48-3:48 in LPHS Media Center - We will be in the media center for the full meeting as we have a special presentation regarding working with students that refuse to participate for various reasons.  

* BHM Movie Night in LPHS Auditorium - 5:30 pm

Wednesday: 

* Student of the Month Celebration, first hour in LPHS Media Center

Thursday: 

* ASD Winter Cozy, 6:00-8:00 pm

Friday: 

* Happy Birthday, Blake Johnson! 

This Week at LPHS, February 20 - 24

 Monday: 

* No School, President's Day

Tuesday: 

* PD Day, No Students - You can find the schedule here.  During the afternoon slot, you are free to work with your departments or on your own projects. Please make sure your gradebook is up to date and reflective of the expected weekly entrances.  

Wednesday: 

* Zoom in Real Life Day - Pajamas on bottom, business on top! 

* Powder Buff - Immediately after school in the LPHS Gym

* Happy Birthday, Stan Grzebyk! 

Thursday: 

* Younger Self vs. Future Self Day

* Blood Drive in LPHS Gym during the school day

Friday: 

* Western Wear Day or Orange and Blue Day

* Coming Home Varsity Girls' Basketball game at 5:30 pm, Varsity Boys' at 7:00 pm

* Coming Home Dance, 8:00-11:00 pm in LPHS Gym

Sunday: 

* Happy Birthday, Mark Rodriguez!

* Early Release and Staff Meeting in LPHS Media Center, 1:48-3:48 - Math and PBIS Presentations

Wednesday:

* Project People Mindfulness Minute - Fourth Hour - Project People is a group of students at LPHS who have been working with SSW Intern, Ashlen Michalski, to create opportunities to share tips for mental health support.  This presentation is the first of more to come that have been created by the group.  Please share this video with your fourth hour class.  

Thursday: 

* SST Meeting, 1:00-2:00 in Room 144

* Happy Birthday, Mike Suchy! 

Saturday: 

* Happy Birthday, Jason Rich! 

Souper Bowl Champion

 Congratulations to Julie Linting on winning the Souper Bowl Championship with her Buffalo Chicken Chili!  Overall, $336 were raised for the Ara Glenn Avedian Scholarship Fund!  Congratulations to all involved!

WIDA Testing - WIDA Testing begins this week, so the LPHS Media Center will be closed during these testing sessions.  

Souper Bowl Contest Sign-Ups in the LPHS Main Office.  Sign up Monday through Thursday with the competition to take place on Friday, February 10th.  Click here for more information.

Newest Railsplitter Addition

Marie Foggia, LPPS Registered Dietician, and her wife Riley welcomed two new Railsplitters into the family on January 25th.  

Riley gave birth to Luca and Hazel and moms and babies are all reported to be doing well!  

Hazel was born at 1:34 pm weighing in at 5 lbs and 7 oz, while measuring 17.5 inches long.  

Luca was born shortly after at 1:36, weighing 5 lbs and 4 oz while measuring 17.3 inches long.  

Congratulations to Marie and her entire family!
