Hall Passes After Break

According to our PBIS data, along with a perception in the hallways during 5th and 6th hour, getting students in to class at the right times is one of our biggest struggles here at Lincoln Park High School.  With this being the case, we are going to put some new guidelines in place after Christmas Break.  In order to make it effective, we will need everyone to be on board and following along.

During all classes, students must have a pass to leave class.  Students will be asked to show their pass when they are in the hallway and if they do not have one, will be escorted to class first and then to ISS for our repeat offenders.  Students being in the hallway without having a pass will be assigned after school or lunch detentions.

In addition to this, I am asking that you not allow student in your room that are not on your roster for that hour unless they have a written pass from the teacher whose room they are supposed to be in that excuses them specifically to come to your class.  Again, we can't do the work of keeping students where they are supposed to be without everyone's involvement and cooperation.

EMC kids will be dismissed from their classes and are expected to leave or report to the athletics wing if they are playing sports.  They are allowed to make appointments with staff members, but again, should have it in writing.

I recognize that all of this seems like a lot and may seem strict, but we have got to cut down on the number of students in the wrong places at the wrong times.  Students need to be in class to learn.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and thank you in advance!

This Week at LPHS: 12/18-12/22

ONE MORE WEEK!!!

Hello Everyone and welcome to the week before Christmas!  The energy is high in the building and the students (and you) are restless.  We do still have five full days this week though, so let's make the most of them.

On Tuesday morning, there is a PBIS meeting in the Media Center at 7:10 for all PBIS Team Members.

On Wednesday, students involved with DECA (85 in total) will be at Baker College all day for the District 8 DECA Competition.  Students should have already notified you of their absence.  Good luck DECA students and sponsors!

BTN will meet on Thursday morning at 7:10 in room 145.

The Staff Potluck is on Friday, and I have heard that Mr. Calvin provides and excellent meat carving station.  If you have not gotten a chance to sign up to bring something, here is your chance!

On Friday, at 7:00 pm, our drama club will host Rudolph's Review in the LPHS Auditorium.

Add all of this to a full slate of athletics this week, plus the high energy of the students and we may feel a little flat on Friday morning.  Administration will be by with some coffee, hot cocoa and donuts in the morning to help perk you up!

Have a great week!

Club Sponsor Requested for FAN

As many of you are aware, drug abuse inflicts a great deal of individuals in our community and many of our students go home and deal with it on a daily basis.  Locally, there is a group called Families Against Narcotics (FAN) that work to address the issue.  You can find out more information about the group here.  Mr. Dangerfield and Judge Clifton sit as members on this group and they are looking to expand in to the middle and high school in the form of an after school club.  This group would meet to provide support to each other and to try to raise awareness in the school of the negative impact that drugs have on individuals and our community.  If you are interested in sponsoring this club, please let me know by the end of the day on Friday.  We would like for this club to meet on a monthly basis and to start after Winter Break.  I would love to support the group in any way that I can.

This week at LPHS: 12/11 - 12/15

A couple of reminders about this week:

On Tuesday morning, Dillon Marshall-Alley and his parent will be coming around to collect the children's toys that were brought in for Goodfellows.  If you haven't contributed yet and would like to, gifts must be in the box by the start of the school day tomorrow.  Contributions from our building are pretty awesome!

Also on Tuesday, we have an early release day that we will use for department collaboration and planning of assessments for our next PSP.  I will provide more information to department heads at our meeting after school today.

The staff meeting for Tuesday has been cancelled, so you will be able to leave at the regular contract time.

On Thursday morning, our PBIS committee is meeting at 7:10 in the media center.

Finally, please make sure that you are updating your MiStar gradebook at least weekly.

This Week at LPHS: December 4-8

Hello All,

We do not have a very eventful week at Lincoln Park High School, which is nice following the busy finish to last week.

On Tuesday, we have a PSP meeting after school in the media center.  We will start the meeting by modeling the new PSP process.  Please make sure you have your data that you will be using ready to go.

Friday afternoon/evening, the boys' basketball teams will be hosting a "White Out" event for their games against Riverview.  They will be doing a canned food drive during this event with reduced admission for this game.

Have a great week!  Only 15 school days before winter break!
