This Week at LPHS, November 18-22

Hello All,

This is our last full week before Thanksgiving.  We do have an early release on Tuesday, which is discussed below.  Have a great week with our students and keep up the hard work!

As a reminder, all open enrollment insurance documents need to be turned in to the board office by Wednesday, November 20.

Monday:

* Health Insurance Open Enrollment Meeting in LPHS Media Center, 1:00-6:00

Tuesday:

* Health Insurance Open Enrollment Meeting in LPHS Media Center, 1:00-6:00

* Early Release, Meeting in the LPHS Media Center 1:55-2:45, with staff meeting time to follow.  Dismissal at 3:45.

* Over the course of the next three months, we will be meeting with each department, including electives, to discuss curriculum, HQI walk data, and instruction.  During this time, we will discuss any issues you may be having, as well as what we would like to see continue.  We will do these all during staff meeting time, while remaining departments will have time to complete other tasks.  This week, we will start with the Social Studies department meeting in room 144, while other departments have time to call the parents/guardians of failing students.  (This is what we were going to do during last week's staff meeting.) Everyone will be dismissed at 3:45.

* One of the items we will review during the early release meeting time will be the rigorous assignment checklist that we have discussed in the past.  For your convenience, that checklist is provided here.  If assignments we are giving, do not meet the standards provided on this sheet, they need to be seriously reconsidered.  It is past time that we move away from the low expectations of simple wrote memorization assignments.

Wednesday:

* College Wear Wednesday

* SST Meeting, 8:00-10:00

* Fall Sports Banquet, 6:00 LPHS Cafeteria

Thursday:

Staff Wellness Center

Hey LPHS staff!

Have you ever wondered what it is like to have a "reset" during the day?  You may have wondered what our goal is for our students to "reset" so they can get more focused in your classes.  While we are still working on this process with our students, we are hoping that our Staff Wellness Center will have a strong start.  Our Staff Wellness Center (called the SWC) is located in the back of the RTC (Room 143.)  It will open for all staff on Wednesday, November 13th.  It will be closed during 3rd and 4th hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to our Resiliency groups, but otherwise it is open for all.  Please come down during your prep hour to grab a stress-relieving cup of tea, have a healthy snack and sit in one of our special recliners to help you unwind and refocus for your classes.  There will Chromebooks set up also to play yoga and stretching videos.  As with our students, the goal of a Reset is 10-15 minutes!  We hope you will use this Reset time to relax and renew your focus and energy for the day!

Lastly, please conclude your visit to the SWC by writing down 1 thing your are grateful for on the gratitude cards and placing it in the gratitude jar.  Please contact Tre Fry if you can think of anything that will improve your SWC experience!

This Week at LPHS, November 11-15
